Terri, thank you, thank you, thank you. I know, now, where I was going wrong! I have a hot glue gun so I will definately try this soon. I was losing structure whilst sewing those babies up. I liked the rolled serged hem too, actually I will make mine as if I've never made one before - starting over with your wonderful tute as my guide. Bookmarked! Suze, UK.
You are so welcome. As a side point, you might experiment with different glues and/or stitches to hold it together. For a veil, hot glue really just nails it down and it isn't going anywhere. it is fast, clear and strong. It does, however, add a tiny bit of weight to the overall piece, but not enough to matter to the girls I have worked with... If weight is an issue, then you might make them small or figure out ways to hold them together lightly:-) I was thinking a rounded plastic hair clip with teeth might work well to clamp it while lighter fabric glue dries.
